Graduated in 1981 with his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law
Graduated in 1978 Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Political Economy from The Colorado College


Mr. Chapin has been admitted to practice before all Wyoming Courts since 1981.


Charlie began practicing law in 1981with his father Donald E. Chapin and Charles M. Crowell at Crowell & Chapin P.C. as an associate. He became a partner in the firm in 2000.

The firm was renamed, Crowell, Chapin & Dixon when Don and Charlie were joined by Patrick Dixon in 2001. Mr. Dixon’s wife, Kathleen Dixon, joined the firm in approximately 2006, at which time the firm changed its name to Chapin & Dixon.

Don Chapin passed in October 2009. Mr. Chapin remained with Chapin & Dixon until April 2012, when he joined Williams, Porter, Day & Neville as a Partner and Shareholder.

Mr. Chapin currently maintains positions as a City of Casper Municipal Court Judge and a Natrona Country Circuit Court Magistrate, having held both positions for 20+ years. Formerly, Mr. Chapin served as Municipal Judge for the Town of Bar Nunn from 1984 to 1987, and as the Town Attorney from 1987 to 2013.

Mr. Chapin has served on various Wyoming State Bar Committees, including the Chairing of the Wyoming State Bar Board of Professional Responsibility, Wyoming State Bar Client Security Fund Committee, and Wyoming State Bar Legal Education Committee. He has additionally served as a member of the Wyoming State Bar Committee to Rewrite the State Bar Professional Responsibility Rules and Regulations.

Mr. Chapin was brought on as the Transactional Partner for Williams, Porter, Day & Neville, practicing in the areas of the creation and maintenance of business organizations, estate planning, elder law, real estate, banking, healthcare, employment and contract law, as well as most satellite/tangential areas of the law related thereto.

Mr. Chapin has lectured on the following topics: legal ethics, estate planning and real estate.


Mr. Chapin has additionally served on, or been a member of a number of other civil/charitable associations/activities. He has served on all committees and chaired the Casper College District Board of Trustees and the Wyoming Medical Center Board of Trustees. He has served as a member and officer of the Metro Animal Control Board, Wyoming Chapter National Multiple Sclerosis Society Board of Directors, United Way of Natrona County Campaign, Legal Division, and the Natrona County Memorial Hospital Board.
