LEGAL PRACTICE:

Mr. Schwartz was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, and grew up in Laramie. During law school, Ryan worked in the University of Wyoming Prosecution Assistance Clinic, prosecuting felony and misdemeanor criminal matters for the Albany County Attorney’s Office, as well as arguing matters to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Ryan was chosen by the staff as the Outstanding Clinic Student for 2002. After law School, Ryan joined the law firm founded by former Wyoming Governor and Secretary of the Interior, Stanley K. Hathaway. At Hathaway & Kunz, P.C., Ryan’s practice emphasized the areas of Employment Law, Natural Resources, Insurance Defense, and General Civil Practice.

Ryan joined Williams, Porter, Day & Neville, P.C. as an associate in 2006, and became a Shareholder in 2009. Ryan has continued his practice here, focusing on the areas of Transportation and Construction litigation, Employment Law, Energy, Natural Resources, Oil and Gas, and General Business Law.

Ryan’s reported cases in the Wyoming Supreme Court include:

State of Wyoming v. Nelson, 49 P.3d 185 (Wyo. 2002);
WSP, Inc v. Wyoming Steel, Inc. 158 P.3d 651 (Wyo. 2007);
Rice v. Collins Communication, Inc. et al, 236 P.3d 1009 (Wyo. 2010).
Vision 2007 v. Lexstar Development and Construction Company, LLC, 255 P.3d 914 (Wyo. 2011);
Rodney Shafer v. TNT Well Service, Inc., 285 P.3d 958, (Wyo. 2012).

Ryan also contributed significant time and effort assisting counsel on the following cases:

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND ACTIVITIES:

Ryan is an active member of the Wyoming State Bar and the current President of the Natrona County Bar Associations. Mr. Schwartz served on the Board of Directors for the Casper Country Club, was a past president of the Student Chapter of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, and President of the legal fraternity, Delta Theta Phi. Ryan is a member of the Casper Rotary Club, and he and his wife Melissa enjoy the many outdoor activities available in Natrona County, and of course cheering on the Wyoming Cowboys!
